One of the cornerstones here at Bones Coffee Co. is a focus on community and giving back to those who give to us. We do this through donations to events and organizations as well as by sending care packages to our military overseas and abroad. 

We take pride in our efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian in the Fall of 2022. The weeks following the storm we were able to provide fresh hot coffee to residents of Southwest Florida and the visiting National Guard in town to aid in rescue and rebuilding efforts. This humbling experience only strengthened our resolve to give back. 

We do have a few ground rules when it comes to donations and military care packages and those can be found below. 

Donations 

While we would love to fill all donation requests we receive, as a business we have made the decision to focus our efforts on organizations and events in our hometown of Southwest Florida. If you are a resident in our community looking for donations, please reach out to us at support@bonescoffee.com and we would love to help.  

Military Care Packages

Not only does Bones employ veterans, but we love to send out care packages to our active troops overseas and abroad. If you are an active member yourself or a friend/family member of an active member, please reach out to support@bonescoffee.com. Be sure to send the recipients name, as well as a full APO, FPO, or DPO address. 

We will add the address to our military list and as soon as we have coffee to provide from our donation pool, we will get that sent out and provide a followup email! Keep in mind the coffee may be a mixture of ground and whole bean.

1. At Bonescoffee.com you can subscribe to up to four flavored or non-flavored blends per subscription at 20% off of full retail price.(Anymore than four and a second subscription must be purchased). Simply click on the “Coffee Club” tab at the top of our webpage.

2. You can chose the flavor, grind type, and frequency you would like to start off with. This will be what is received with your first order. 

3. Once your subscription has begun, you can manage your subscription including frequency, payment methods, shipping addresses, and flavor preferences through your Bones Coffee Account. (To sign in/sign up for one click the skull icon in the upper right corner of our webpage).

4. Discount codes and gift cards unfortunately can not be used on subscriptions. The subscription requires a payment method that can be charged reccuring each month. 

5. Seasonal/limited flavors can not be subscribed to due to their “limited” availability.

Our goal is to make sure your delicious coffee and awesome Bones gear gets to you safely and in a reasonable amount of time. As we continue to grow as a company, we hope to expand our shipping options even further to provide broad and beneficial options for you!

We currently use three different carriers in FedEx, USPS, and DHL. All international orders will be shipped using FedEx International Economy Shipping. 

We also offer a large variety of our products on Amazon, and Walmart.com. All orders purchased through our Amazon Marketplace are eligible for Prime Shipping. Walmart.com orders also receive priority shipping services.

A timeline of your order experience should look something like this: 

1. At checkout you can choose standard delivery which carries a 2-7 business day delivery window or upgrade to USPS Priority Delivery for a 1-3 business day delivery. You can receive free US standard shipping with orders whose subtotals are $75+ after any and all discounts are applied.

2. We ask that you please allow up to but no more than 5-7 days for roasting, hand packing, and fulfillment of your order.

3. Once your order is fulfilled at Bones HQ and scanned in by the carrier, you will receive tracking information to your email on file. 

4. Keep in mind, any estimated delivery dates by the carriers are subject to change due to any weather conditions or unforeseen delays. Bones will do our best to work with carriers to resolve any delays.

Making a return or an exchange should be an easy process, we get it. Bones Coffee is committed 100% to delivering the best quality coffee and merchandise to our loyal customers. Rule #1: Absolutely NO returns or exchanges on any drinkable or edible products  as all of our coffee is roasted to order for peak fresh enjoyment. Would you want to receive a food product previously sent out and returned? Nah, me either. We do offer a first time satisfaction guarantee if you happen to order the wrong product or have a flavor you did not enjoy as we intended. 

Rule #2: We do accept returns on unused mugs or tumblers as well as exchanges on any apparel that may not fit. Please be sure to review the product descriptions on future orders. 

Rule #3: If the product is damaged or defective, or the wrong item was received, Bones will cover the return shipping cost. If you did not like the color or size of a mug or shirt, Bones will not cover the return shipping costs and onus of returning the merchandise would be on you, the wonderful customer.

Rule #4: We do not accept returns/exchanges on any of our brewing equipment or products that are opened or have a manufacturer warranty. What we can do is bridge the connection between you and the warranty company to help deliver the best possible outcome for you the customer.

Pour Some Water Over Beans…In the Name of Love (Of Coffee)

    Amalie Auguste Melitta Liebscher, a German entrepreneur, helped usher in the ever popular among coffee aficionados, pour over method, in the early 1900s. (History, right?) The standard brewing methods at that time just weren’t her bag of beans, so she decided to come up with her own. Using blotting paper from her son’s exercise books and a brass pot punctured with nail…the modern day drip and pour over method was born.    

    People always come to me and say, “Zac, I really want to get into making my coffee using the pour over method but it just looks so darn complicated!” To that I say, “Do you have two hands to pour some water?” The pour over method is not as intimidating or complicated as you may think and it produces one fine flavor. 

Supplies 

• A Chemex brewer and filter
• Scale
• Filtered water and a kettle
• Your favorite Bones Coffee flavor

Step One - Coffee & Water

• For the pour over method, we recommend using a 1:16 brew ratio.Meaning, for every one gram of coffee, make sure to have 16 grams of water. About 50 grams of medium coarsely ground coffee and 800 grams of water should be enough. You will want your water around  200°. 

Step Two - Weigh it Out

• Place your ChemEx brewer on the scale and tare it out to zero!
• Add that delicious Bones coffee to the filter and place it on top of the brewer (Your weight should be approximately 50grams on the scale)
• Tare out the scale to zero once again and get ready, it’s about to get wet!

Step Three - Simply Add Water

• Once your water is at or around  200°, go ahead and start pouring over your grinds 30 grams at a time. Adding 30 grams slowly over a 30 second period. 

Step Four - Finish 

• After 3-4 minutes of letting the remaining water filter through, swirl the coffee, pour into your favorite Bones Coffee Company mug and enjoy!

What if I told you that the French Press wasn’t French at all? Shocking, I know. What if I also revealed that it was the brainchild of two Italian gentlemen attempting to create a tomato juice separator? Equally surprising.

And what if I flip-flopped again and claimed the French Press was a French innovation, the result of one man’s blunder in boiling his water before adding it to his coffee?

Honestly, the debate over the true inventor of the French Press has persisted for decades, with countless origin stories for this exceedingly popular coffee brewing method.

People often approach me (well, in my imagination, at least) and say, “Zac, I really want to start using a French Press, but it seems so darn complicated!” I assure you that although it’s a brewing method that demands patience, practically anyone can master making coffee with it.

I’m here to strip the French Press coffee brewing process down to the bare bones.

Step 1: Hot Water

You can’t make delicious French Press coffee without hot water—that’s a fact. Start by boiling some water in your electric kettle; it’s fine if you boil a little extra. Aim for a water temperature around 195°F, just below boiling, perfect for an ideal French Press. 

Step 2: Prepare the Press

Preparing your French Press is as crucial as any other step. Preheat your empty French Press by pouring some hot water into it. Introducing coffee and hot water to a room-temperature Press is a no-no—the coffee gods would not be pleased.

Making coffee with a French Press is a bit more involved compared to brewing with a coffeemaker or with the pour-over method, but it’s worth the taste.

Step 3: Grind (Not the Dance)

For a French Press, you’ll need a coarse grind of your Bones coffee beans (why not try one of these?). Finer coffee grounds could clog your filter or slip through when brewing coffee after you plunge.

Use a French Press with freshly ground coffee beans for the best experience. It’s the only way to enjoy a full-bodied cup of coffee, especially if it’s a specialty single-origin coffee.

Step 4: Let’s Make Some Coffee!

Yes, we’re at step four and only now starting to make French Press coffee. Patience, remember? Brewing French Press coffee is a multilayered process.

For every 200 ml of water, pour 7–8 grams of your preferred Bones Coffee blend into your French Press. The exact amount will depend on the size of your press and the brew time.

Gently pour water over the coffee grounds until they’re just covered. This allows the delicious ground coffee to “bloom” and release CO2, which is essential to unlocking the best flavor. Give it about 30 seconds, then gently stir to break any crust that’s formed.

Next, fill the press with the remaining hot water, but not to the brim. Remember, the lid and plunger need space to operate.

Place the lid on to retain heat. Now, resist the urge to press on the plunger just yet—patience is key for the best taste!

Wait for four minutes. It might feel like an eternity, but it’s the perfect time to scroll through TikTok (@bonescoffee).

Press the plunger down slowly, with caution—it’s hot!

Step 5: Pour and Enjoy

Your diligence is about to be rewarded. Prep your favorite Bones Coffee Company mug, add any sweetener or creamer you like, pour yourself a cup of French Press coffee, and gently stir for a rich cup of delicious. Enjoy! 

Quick Tip: If you’re not going to drink all the French Press coffee at once, decant it. As coffee sits, it starts to get too strong and bitter.
